Question 2144) - Man says, "There is a nazr on me/ for Allaah." He does not mention what he has pledged. What is the ruling?

A: Although the words are nazr the meaning is yamin [oath]. Kaffarah of yamin is payable.*

* Uqbah bin 'Amir narrates that Rasulullaah (S.A.W) said, "Kaffarah of nazr is the kaffarah of yamin." [Abu Dawud]
