Getting Married in the Month of Muharra

Q: Imaan-79: The people here believe that it is Haraam to get married during the month of Muharram since they regard the month to be one of mourning and grieving. Is this correct?

Answer: It is, in fact, Haraam to regard the month of Muhanam as a month of mourning. The Ahadeeth are explicit about the fact that apart from a widow mourning the death of her husband for four months and ten days, it is not permissible for anyone to mourn the death of any relative for more that three days.

It is sinful to regard as marriage in the blessed month of Muharram as a marriage bereft of blessings. This opposes the beliefs of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah. It is also detrimental to one's Imaan to regard a permissible and Halaal act as impermissible and Hara am even though this may be by way of conviction or deed. Muslims need to steer clear of the customs of the Shias and Rawaafidh since participation in their customs is Haraam. Maa Laa Budda Minhu (Pg.131) makes it clear that it is Haraam for Muslims to imitate the ways of the Kuffaar and the sinners.
