Eating Rabbit Meat

Q: Prohibitions and Permissions-38: Rabbits feed on grains and vegetation and never hunt other animals. There are, however, two types of rabbits; (1) those that have feet without claws and (2) those that have claws. We only have the clawed variety here. They do not eat with these claws and also do not eat impurities and carrion. Is it Halaal to eat both these types of rabbit?

Answer: It is permissible to eat both these types of rabbit. In fact, when Rasulullaah SAW. was given rabbit meat as a gift, he ate it and even told the Sahabah RADI. to eat.
