Calling out the Adhaan While the Masjid is Beinig Renovated

Q: Salaah-222: When the roof of our Masjid was broken down, there is neither any Adhaan or salaah taking place. Although the Masjid was never closed even when we experienced a flood, the Imaam has now stopped the Adhaan and lqaamah only because the roof has been broken down. While there is sufficient space close to the Masjid area to perform salaah, the Imaam made an announcement on April 17 1977 A.D. after the Isha salaah that neither the Jumu'ah salaah nor any other salaah will be performed in the Masjid from then onwards. A board has also been hung at the Masjid with this announcement. Please clarify.

Answer: The salaah and Adhaan should take place from the area you Have specified that is close to the Masjid area. Those unable to come to the Masjid will then know when to perform their salaah and the others may join the Jamaa'ah. The Jumu'ah salaah may however be performed elsewhere if the space is insufficient. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
