As-sal?mu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatull?hi wa-barak?tuh. Fasting is an act of worship (ibadat). It is one of the Fundamental Principles (Pillars) of Islam. Allah Subhana wa Ta’Ala says:[1]”Oh you who believe fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed to those before you that you may attain Taqwa (God-Fearing).” Allah Subhana wa Ta’Ala says Oh you who believe. This is a general command for everyone who are Believers in Islam. The command is that they should fast.(Mariful Quran – Maktaba-eDarul-Uloom; pg. 454) And Allah Ta’?la Knows Best Mawlana Saeed Ahmed Golaub Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies Student Darul Iftaa Checked and Concurred by, Moulana Ismail Desai
