Missing salaah for no Valid Reason

Q: Salaah-650: A man performs his salaah, but not within its time. Will he still be regarded to be a Faasiq?

Answer: There is tremendous emphasis placed on salaah and it is essential that it be performed within its time. Allaah says, "Verily salaah has been ordained at prescribed times for the Mu'mineen." A person will therefore be sinful and declared a Faasiq if he delays the salaah to after its time.

Many Sahabah RADI. regarded a person to be a Kaafir if he did not perform his salaah. Amongst the Sahabah RADI. who held this opinion were Hadhrat Umar RADI. Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Mas'ood RADI. Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Abbaas RADI., Hadhrat Mu'aadh bin Jabal RADI. Hadhrat Jaabir RADI., Hadhrat Abu Dardaa RADI., Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah RADI. and Hadhrat Abdur Rahmaan bin Auf RADI.

A Hadith states that the person who performs his salaah out of its time will have to spend several Haqabs in Jahannam and a single Haqab equals eighty years.
In fact, Fuqahaa state the ruling that when the child's head has emerged and the time for salaah is on the verge of expiring, it will be binding on the mother to perform her salaah. If she is unable to perform wudhu, she should perform Tayammum and if she is unable to make Ruku, she should perform salaah with indications, taking care not to harm the child in any way. She can, however, not afford to miss her salaah. In fact, even if a person is shipwrecked and clinging on to a plank in the sea, he should place the limbs to be washed in wudhu into the water and then perform salaah by indication. Similarly, a paralysed person who has no help should somehow rub his hands and face on a wall to make Tayammum, but cannot miss his salaah.

Fuqahaa have even written that if a person knows that he will miss a single salaah if he proceeds for Hajj, it will be Haraam for him to go for Hajj because missing a single salaah cannot be compensated for by performing Hajj seventy times.

From all of this, one can gauge the importance of performing salaah on time. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
