The Musaafir in the Shari'ah

Q: Salaah-680: A Molvi Sahib works at a place located seventy to eighty miles from his Watn AsIi (place of permanent residence). The place where he works has therefore become like his Watn Iqaamah. Now when the Molvi Sahib travels 25 to 30 miles out of the Watn Iqaamah, which is more than the distance of Safar from the Watn Asli. From where will the distance of Safar be calculated?

Answer: In the stated case. the distance will be calculated from the Watn Iqaamah. He will therefore not be a Musaafir because the distance is less than that of Safar. On the other hand, if he started the journey from the Watn Asli the distance will be calculated from there. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
