Congregating to recite Surah Kahaf

Q: Salaah-151: People in some areas gather together in the Masjid after the Jumu'ah Adhaan and each one gets a turn to recite a Ruku of Surah kahaf as the others listen. This disturbs those performing salaah and engaging in other Ibaadaat. What is the ruling?

Answer: This practice of congregating to recite Surah Kahaf loudly is wrong. There is however no harm in reciting it individually in a manner that does not disturb others. Allaam Ibnul Haaj RAH. (passed away 737 A.H.) explicitly states that this practice of congregating to recite Surah Kahaf loudly is a Bid'ah.
