The Jumu'ah salaah in a Room for Salaah

Q: Salaah-687: There is a traveller's inn here at the bus station in Angleshwar. The upper story room is reserved for performing salaah and salaah in Jamaa'ah is performed there five times a day. The people in the vicinity who number close to 200 wish to perform the Jumu'ah salaah here because the Jaami Masjid is a mile away. Because of a lack of time and the given distance, people sometimes miss the Jumu'ah salaah altogether. Can the Jumu'ah salaah be performed here?

Answer: A Masjid is not a precondition for the Jumu'ah salaah to be valid as long as the place is a town or city. The Jumu'ah salaah may therefore be performed in the place specified in the question, but the rewards of performing salaah in a Masjid will be lost. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
