Method of Performing the Eid Salaah

Q: Salaah-182: Many errors take place in calling out the Takbeers when performing the Eid salaah. People do to know when to raise the hands and when not to and when to drop the hands to the side and when not to. Please explain.

Answer: The first Rakaah has four Takbeers including the Takbeer Tahreema. The hands will be raised to the ears when calling out each one of the four. The rule to bear in mind is that when there is something to recite after the Takbeer, the hands will be folded and when there is nothing to be recited, the hands will not be folded. Here follows the procedure:

>??? 1st Takbeer: Raise the hands and fold them (then recite Thanaa)

>??? 2nd Takbeer: Raise the hands and leave them by the side

>??? 3rd Takbeer: Raise the hands and leave them by the side

>??? 4th Takbeer: Raise the hands and told them (Qiraa'ah will then be recited)

Including the Takbeer of Ruku, the second Rakaah will also have four Takbeers. The hands will be raised and left by the side after the first three Takbeers. When the fourth Takbeer is called out, the hands will not be raised and the Musallis should proceed directly into Ruku. There will be no errors Inshaa Allaah if this method is kept in mind.
