Concerning the Eid Salaah

Q: Salaah-185: There are about ten to twelve shops approximately fifty miles out of town, where the population is small. They perform the Eid salaah every year and even have someone to read out the Khutbah. They have no Masjid or place for salaah and do so on an open field. However, only the Eid salaah is performed here and the people do not perform the Jumu'ah salaah or the five daily salaahs in Jamaa'ah. Is the Eid salaah valid? There are approximately 30 to 40 people who join them.

Answer: The Eid salaah is not Waajib (compulsory) in the stated case. What is Waajib (compulsory) for them is to build a Masjid where the five daily salaahs are performed. If this Waajib (compulsory) act is not fulfilled, the fervour to perform the Eid salaah remains a mere fervour.
