Is it Better to Perform the Eid salaah at a Place of Recrestion or st the Jaami Masjid?

Q: Salaah-528: There is no designated area outside our town for Perform the Eid salaah. There is however a vacant field where sports are played, people have been performing the Eid salaah there for several years when out Masjid could not accommodate so many people. We now have a large and spacious Masjid by the grace of Allaah that is able to accommodate the Musallis. The field also falls within the town. What will be the Sunnah practice for us? Will it be best to perform the Eid salaah in the Masjid or in the field?

Answer: The Eid Gah needs to be outside the town. It is sunnah Mu'akkadah to proceed to the Eid Gah even though the Masjid can accommodate all the people2. While you may have a fantastic Masjid, it can by no means be better than the Masjid Nabawi, in which a single salaah is worth fifty thousand salaahs elsewhere. Despite this virtue, Rasulullaah SAW. and the Sahabah RADI. went out to perform the Eid salaah. It is therefore necessary to arrange for a place on the outskirts of the town to perform the Eid salaah.

Since the field you mentioned is within the town and is used for sports and recreation, you, should perform salaah in the Masjid until you can arrange for an appropriate place. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
