Narrations Concerning what Rasulullaah SAW. Did for the Leader of all the Martyrs

Q: Janaa'iz-36: There- is a narration stating that Rasulullaah SAW. himself carried out certain acts for the Isaale Thawaab of his uncle Hadhrat Hamza RADI. on the 3rd , 10th , 12th and 40th days and then after six months and a year (Majma'uz Zau)aa'id). Is this nanation authentic?

Answer: The stated narration is not authentic, but fabricated. It is open slander against Rasulullaah SAW. and the sahabah RADI. Had it been authentic, it would mean that specifying the-se days and dates are sunnah and hold special significance. How Fataawaa Bazzaaziyyah (Vol. 1 pg.81) explicitly states that it is Makrooh to practice the custom of preparing food on the first, third and seventh days after a funeral.

Allaama Nawawi RAH. alsostatesthatitisanactofBid'ahtof'eedpeople on the 3rd , 5th , 7th ,10th and 40th days after a funeral and then after six months and a year.
Hadhrat shah Abdul Haqq Muhaddith Dehlawi RAH. writes that it is Haraam and an act of Bid'ah to gather on the third day and carry out certain specified acts such as spending on orphans without the-consent of the heirs.

Hadhrat Qaadhi Thanaa'ullaah RAH. made a special bequest saying, "None of the worldly customs are to be practised after death, such as the Things done on the 3rd , 10th and 40th days and then after six months and a year.

Carrying out acts of Isaale Thawaab are how ever permissible when no dates are specified. If rewards are to reach the deceased, why wait for the days to pass? It is especially when Fidyah has to be paid for missed salaahs that it should be done as soon as possible after the funeral. Rasulullaah SAW. stated that the condition of the deceased in the grave is like a drowning person. He waits anxiously for any rewards forthcoming from friends and family and when they do arrive, they are more beloved to him than the world and all its contents.

Therefore, financial as well as physical acts of worship should be carried out As soon as possible on behalf of the deceased. One should never wait for the 3rd , 10th , and 40th days and for six months and a year to do this, because this will only cause harm to them since there is no good in acts that conflict with the Sunnah.
And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
