Digging up a Grave on the Grounds of a Dream

Q: Janaa'iz-56: A pregnant woman in our village passed away and was buried. That night a pious man saw a dream in which the woman told him that her child had been born. The people of the village are now uneasy. Must they dig up the grave? What does the Shari'ah say?

Answer: The grave cannot be dug up. Fataawaa Qaadhi Khan (Vol.1 Pg.93) States that if a woman is buried after carrying her child for nine months and the womb was not opened, the grave cannot be opened up afterwards if a person is told by her in a dream that the child was born. This is despite the fact that the child was moving in the womb because the child will obviously be dead. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
