Raising the hands when Reciting the Du'aa after the Adhaan

Q: Salaah-223: Is it Sunnah or contrary to the Sunnah to raise the hands when reciting the du'aa after the Adhaan?

Answer: There are no narrations to substantiate the raising of the hands when reciting the du'aa after the Adhaan. Since Ahadeeth do substantiate raising the hands when making du'aa in general, it will not be said that doing so conflicts with the Sunnah. However, since nothing has been reported to prove it, it is best not to do so. It will therefore be said that not lifting the hands is best. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
