Repeating Surah Faatihs after a Sajdah Tilaawah

Q: Salaah-198: After performing a Sajdah Tilaawah in the Taraaweeh Salaah, the Imaam repeated Surah Faatiha instead of continuing with the Surah. Is it necessary to perform the Sajdah Sahw because Surah Faatiha was repeated?

Answer: If the Imaam repeated the Surah Faatiha before starting with a Surah, it will be necessary to perform Sajdah Sahw. This is so because after reciting Surah Faatiha, it will be Waajib (compulsory) to commence a Surah without any delay. A delay in commencing the Surah will necessitate Sajdah Sahw because delaying a waajib (compulsory) act necessitates Sajdah Sahw.

However, in the above situation. the Surah was started immediately after the Surah Faatiha and there was no delay between the Surah Faatiha and the Qiraa'ah (reaction of the Surah). After the Qiraa'ah, the Ruku follows but since there is no limit for the Qiraa'ah and a person is free to recite as much as he wants, Sajdah Sahw will not be necessary for any delay in this.
