Is it Sunnah to perform the Taraaweeh salaah in Congregation?

Q: Salaah-206: Is it necessary to perform the Taraaweeh salaah in congregation in the Masjid? Can it be performed at home?

Answer: Performing the Taraaweeh salaah in the Masjid with Jamaa'ah is Sunnah Mu'akkadah aIaI Kifaayah, meaning that if no one is doing it, all Muslims in the locality will be sinful for neglecting it. However, if there are people performing it in the Masjid in congregation, people performing it alone at home will not be sinful. They will of course be deprived of the virtue of performing salaah with Jamaa'ah and the virtue of performing salaah in the Masjid.
