Who should Correct the Person Leading the Taraaweeh salaah?

Q: Salaah-303; If the Saami (the person appointed to correct the Huffaadh leading the Taraanzeeh salaah) is unable to correct the Imaam leading the Taraaweeh salaah, is there any harm if someone from the third or fourth row corrects? The Imaam insists that the person correcting should be in the first row. Will a Haafidh arriving late for the salaah who could not be in the first row have a right to correct?

Answer: If there is an appointed Saami, he ought to correct the error and no one else should hasten to do so before him. This will only cause confusion. However, if the Saami is unable to correct the Imaam or is unable to do so effectively, it will be Fardh (obligatory) for someone else to correct the Imaam regardless of which row he may be standing in. He will be sinful for failing to do so. It is however necessary for him to be performing the same salaah with the Imaam. If he is not and the Imaam accepts his correction, the Imaam's salaah will be rendered invalid. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
