Making Two Jamaa'ahs for the Taraaweeh salaah

Q: Salaah-473: By the grace of Allaah, we have many Huffaadh in our town. To ensure that they all remember the Qur'aan well, we all perform the Isha salaah in the Masjid, after which some of the Huffaadh proceed with some Musallis to the Madrassah building. They then perform the Taraaweeh salaah as well as the Witr salaah there, while the rest perform the Taraaweeh and Witr salaahs in the Masjid. Is this correct?

Answer: Because the Isha salaah is performed together in the Masjid and because the intention is not to create a split, it will be permissible to do as you are doing, with the second Jamaa'ah performing the Taraaweeh and Witr salaahs in the Madrassah complex. While the people in the Madrassah will attain the rewards of salaah performed in Jamaa'ah, they will not have the rewards of performing salaah in the Masjid. Inshaa Allaah, this deficiency will be compensated by the fact that their intention is to preserve the Qur'aan. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
