Reciting a Further Three Verses before Performing the Sajdah Tilaawah

Q: Salaah-461: After reciting a Sajdah Tilaawah verse, the Imaam recited a further three verses before making the Sajdah Tilaawah. Is Sajdah Sahw necessary or does the salaah need to be repeated?

Answer: It is Waajib (compulsory) to perform the Sajdah Tilaawah immediately after reciting the verse. Delaying the Sajdah Tilaawah to after three verses or more will be regarded as Qadhaa, which will necessitate Sajdah Sahw. The salaah will therefore need to be repeated if the Sajdah Sahw was not performed during the salaah. In fact, the Sajdah Tilaawah can be performed at any time before the Salaam and even afterwards on condition that no action was done that would nullify salaah. If it was not performed during the salaah, one can only compensate by seeking repentance from Allaah.
