If a house collapses and the wind blows the dust in such a way that someone's face and arms are completely covered is the Tayammum complete? May he perform Salah like that? PDF Print E-mail

Question 44) - If a house collapses and the wind blows the dust in such a way that someone's face and arms are completely covered is the Tayammum complete? May he perform Salah like that?

A: That is not Tayammum. The required Taharah has not been obtained because intention is a Fard of Tayammum. On the other hand, if someone is submerged in water without an intention of Ghusl, the Ghusl is made. In the same way, if the rain wets all the organs required to be wet for Wudu and the water flows over them and he passes his hand over his head, the Wudu is made even though he had no intention of Wow. That is because intention is Sunnah in Ghusl arch Wudu, not Fard.
