Is a woman in a state of Nifas when she has a miscarriage? PDF Print E-mail
TAHAARAH - Cleanliness - HAYDH, NIFAAS, ISTIHAAZA

Question 87) - Is a woman in a state of Nifas when she has a miscarriage?

A: If some part of the fetus was completely created and is seen, such as a hand, leg, nail, hair or finger, then she is in Nifas. If no organ can be seen then it is treated as blood flowing from the womb. If it lasts three days and nights preceded by a purity period, then that is menses, otherwise Istihaazah.
