The Meaning of 'Ahad' and 'Samad'

Q: Imaan-5: What is the meaning of the words'Ahad'and'samad' in Surah Ikhlaas?

Answer: The word 'Ahad' means that Allaah (ta?aala) is unique in His being And qualities and that He is only One (He has neither any partner nor equal). This rejects the belief of those who believe in more than one deity. The word ?Samad' means that Allaah is Independent and in need of no one else. Everything is dependent on Him.
