Reciting Faatiha over Food to be Distributed for, Isaale Thawaab

Q: Imaan-81: It is customary here for people to place Isaale Thawaab food before the poor and to then recite Surah Faatiha once and then Surah Ikhlaas thrice. The rewards are then conferred to the deceased before the food is eaten. Is this proven from the Shari'ah?

Answer: This method of reciting Surah Faatiha for food distributed as issaale Thawaab is baseless and is an act of Bid'ah'. The Hadith cited in support of this practice is fabricated. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
