Wetting the Feet before Washing them

Q: Taharaat-45: I have seen Hadhrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi RAH.'s Book did he Ilm wa? Amal and have read on page 330 (Multaan print) that according to the Fuqahaa, it is Mandoob to wet the feet before making wudhu. Thereafter, they will be washed when making wudhu. What is the status of this act?

Answer: It is a good act and may be done. The purpose of this is to ensure that the feet are well washed and wetting them beforehand helps in this. This act should however not be regarded as a Sunnah. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
