Coughing Aloud to capture the Imaam's Attention at the time of the Iqaamah

Q: Salaah-323: The Imaam is seated in the first row when the Iqaamah is due to begin, so the Mu?adhin coughs aloud to attract his attention. The Imaam then proceeds to the Musalla and the Iqaamah is called out. Is this in order?

Answer: It is futile for the Mu'adbin to do this when the imaam is already in the first row. There is of course no harm in doing so if the Imaam is in his room when the salaah is about to begin. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
