Playing with the Body or Clothing in Salaah

Q: Salaah-595: What is the ruling concerning unnecessarily passing the hand over the body during salaah or adjusting the clothing?

Answer: Salaah should be performed with utmost humility and concentration and it is Makrooh Tahreemi to unnecessarily pass the hand over the body during salaah or adjust the clothing. A Hadith states that Allaah dislikes three things, viz. (1) playing (with the body or clothing) in salaah, (2) using foul language while fasting and (3) laughing in the graveyard. Bahr makes it clear that all these acts are Makrooh Tahreemi. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
