Performing the Tahiyyatul Masjid salaah before the Fajr salaah and During the Khutbah

Q: Salaah-598: If one perform the Sunnah Rakaahs of the Fajr or Jumu'ah salaahs at home and then proceeds to the Masjid, should one then perform the Tahiyyatul Masjid salaah upon reaching the Masjid?

Answer: After Subh Saadiq (true dawn), it is only the two Rakaahs Sunnah of Fajr that may be performed before the Fardh of Fajr. It will be Makrooh to perform any Nafl during this time. If a person has already performed the Sunnah saiaah at home and them proceeds to the Masjid without performing the Tahiyyatul Masjid salaah by itself. the Fardh of the Fajr salaah will take the place of the Tahiyyatul Masjid salaah.

If the Sunnah of the Jumu'ah salaah has been performed at home and one reaches the Masjid at a time when the Khutbah has not yet commenced and the Imaam has not yet stood up for the Khutbah, the Tahiyyatul Masjid salaah may be performed.
