Delivering the Khutbah and Leading the salaah While Wearing a Lungi

Q: Salaah-410: Someone told the Imaam that he may not deliver the jumu'ah Khutbah from the pulpit wearing Lungi (a cloth wrapped around the lower body in place of trousers). What is the ruling of the Shari'ah? Can the Khutbah and salaah take place wearing it?

Answer: It is Makrooh to perform salaah wearing clothing that one would be embarrassed to wear out of the house and to gatherings. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
