Repeating Surah Faatiha

Q: Salaah-511: The Imaam of our Masjid recited Surah Faatiha and approximately six verses of a Surah in the Isha salaah. Because he then felt that he had not recited Surah Faatiha, he repeated the Surah Faatiha and a Surah. Since he recited both the Surah Faatiha and a Surah twice, does he need to perform Sajdah Sahw? If so, then why and if not, what is the reason?

Answer: If he recited the Surah Faatiha, followed by a Surah and then repeated the Surah Faatiha and Surah, Sajdah Sahw will not be necessary. This is because there was no delay between the Surah Faatiha and Surah. It is Waajib (compulsory) for the Surah to follow immediately after the Surah Faatiha, which he did, even though he repeated the Surah Faatiha and surah afterwards. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
