Are the Hands to be Left Loose after the Fourth Takbeer of the Janaazah salaah?

Q: Janaa'iz-47: Are the hands to be left hanging by the sides or should they be fastened after the fourth Takbeer of the Janaazah salaah? Out Imaam leaves them loose by the side before making the salaam. what is the ruling?

Answer: Both ways are permissible. Imaam Taahir bin Ahmad Bukhaari Sarakhsi RAH. says that the hands should be left hanging by side because there is no Masnoon Dhikr to follow the fourth Takbeer. Hadhrat Moulana Abdul Hayy RAH. also states that it is Sunnah that the hands be left hanging by side because there is no Masnoon Dhikr to follow the fourth Takbeer.

However, the Grand Mufti of Deoband Hadhrat Mufti Azeezur Rahmaan Uthmaani RAH. says that the hands should be tied and this is the general practice. It should be noted that there is a prescribed Dhikr after every Takbeer: Thanaa is recited after the first Takbeer, Durood after the second and then the du'aa is made after the third. The Salaam follows the fourth Takbeer. The Salaam is also included in the general purport of Dhikr. The Fuqahaa generally state that it is best to tie the hands after every Takbeer of the Janaazah salaah, which is sufficient proof, especially in the absence of any proof stating otherwise.
And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
