Closing Businesses upon the Death of a Relative

Q: Janaa'iz-111: It is of old amongst us to ensure that close relatives close their businesses for three days upon the death of relative. During this period, they recite the Kalimah or complete a recitation of the Qur'aan. Is this permissible?

Answer: Gathering to complete the recitation of the Qur'aan for Isaale Thawaab is permissible on condition that no day is specified (such as 3rd, 5th, Etc.) and it is not done as a custom. While it is permissible be close relatives to close their business for three days. this should not be regarded as compulsory and anyone not doing so should not be rebuked. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
