Conveying Isaale Thawaab before Burial

Q: Janaa'iz-113: When news of a person's death reached the family, people started to visit the bereaved family. When they started to engage in conversations, someone suggested that they rather make du'aa for the deceased and recite Qur'aan and convey the rewards as Isaale Thawaab for him. Molvi Sahib then arrived and told us that Isaale Thawaab cannot be conveyed before burial. Can this be done or not?

Answer: It is Makrooh and forbidden to recite Qur'aan beside the deceased when the body has not yet been bathed. This is because the body may well be soiled by impurities. Tasbeeh is however permitted. The Qur'aan may be recited in another room or further away. The Qur'aan may therefore be recited and Isaale Thawaab conveyed to the deceased on condition that the people happened to be there and were not specially invited to come for the completion of the Qur'aan.

It appears that the Molvi Sahib misunderstood that the body had not yet been bathed since there is no harm in reciting the Qur'aan before burial. And Allaah knows best? what is most correct.
