Can a Fasting Person Chew Bread for a Weaning Child?

Q: Saum-5: A little child can eat bread only when it is chewed for him and cannot eat it otherwise. Will the fast of the mother be Makrooh if she chews the bread for the child?

Answer: If the child cannot eat without the morsel being chewed, the mother's fast will not be Makrooh if she chews on condition that there is no other food that the child can eat. It will be Makrooh if the food is chewed without necessity. Similarly, the fast of a wife will also not be Makrooh if she tastes the food she is cooking when her husband is such a tyrant that he would fly into a rage if the salt or spice in the food is lacking.
