Beating a Drum to Announce Sehri or Iftaar

Q: saum-32: Is it permissible to beat the drum to announce the Sehri or Iftaar during Ramadhaan?

Answer: The permissibility of beating the drum to announce marriages and Wars is established from the Ahadeeth. Similarly, it is also permissible to beat the drum to announce the sighting of the moon and, when necessary, the times of Sehri and lftaar. The condition is that the beating should not take the form of a musical beat.
