Giving the Fidya to Relatives

Q: Saum-45: Can the Fidya for salaahs and fasts missed be given to the ascendants or descendants of the deceased? Can it be given to a deserving daughter-in-law?

Answer: The recipients of Fidya are the same as the recipients of zakaah. It can therefore not be given to any of the ascendants or descendants of the deceased. It can however be given to a daughter-in-law if she is deserving. and Allaah knows best what is most correct.
