Are Household Goods Taken into Account when Paying Sadaqatul Fitr

Question: How much of household possessions and property does a person need before he can receive Sadaqatul Fitr?

Answer: When a person has property that excludes the property that he occupies. his farming land and his debts, and these are valued at more than the amount of Nisaab, he will be liable to pay Sadaqatul Fitr. He will therefore not be able to receive Sadaqatul Fitr. One's personal home and farming land are not included into the calculation of the Nisaab. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
