Using Interest Earned on Masjid Funds to? Pay Property Taxes

Q: Masaajid and Madaaris-5 : How should we spend the interest earned from Masjid funds that is kept in a bank? Although we have heard that it may be used to build the toilets, we have no need for this because the toilets have already been built. Some trustees are of the opinion that the taxes of a house belonging to the Masjid may be paid with the interest. What is the ruling concerning this?

Answer: Because it is necessary to keep records of the Masjid funds and the interest accumulated from it, it has been stated that the interest may be used for the construction or renovation of the toilets. Since the funds are not required for the toilets in the stated case, it will be permissible to use the interest for paying the taxes.
