Rasulullaah SAW.'s Blessed Hair

Q: Prohibitions and Permissions-45: It is commonly understood that people in some towns and villages have the hairs of Rasulullaah SAW. Is this true and should it be revered?

Answer: The Ahadeeth prove that Rasulullaah SAW. did distribute his hair amongst the Sahabah RDI. The Fataawaa of Ibn Taymiyyah RAH. reports a narration stating that Rasulullaah SAW. once had his hair shaved and then gave half of the hair to Hadhrat Abu Talha RADI. and distributed the rest amongst the other Sahabah RADI.

It is therefore not surprising for people to be in possession of some of his blessed hairs. If it is proven with an authentic history to be really the hairs of Rasulullaah SAW. then it deserves to be revered. If it cannot be authentically proven nor can it be assured that it is fake. it is best to maintain silence about the matter. It should therefore neither be revered nor shown disrespect. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
