Query Regarding the phrase (ALI HARAF)

Q: Prohibitions and Permissions-53: The monthly magazine Al Furqaan (Lucknow edition) dated Dhul Hijjah 1389 A.H. states that Fataawaa Raheemiyyah has incorrectly translated the words (ALI HARAF) which appear twice in a narration of Abu Dawood. It states that whereas Fataawaa Raheemiyyah translated the words as "lying on her back", it should be "lying on her side". Please clarify.

Answer: The meaning of the words (ALI HARAF) is lying on her back" is correct and it is incorrect to translate it as "lying on her side". The explanation of "lying on her back" is present between brackets in both instances and the renowned commentary of Abu Dawood, titled Badhlul Majhood (Vol.3 Pg.51) also presents this explanation. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.

NOTE: The Rabee-uth-Thaani 1390 A.H. edition of the Al Furqaan from Lucknow acknowledge this error on their part.
