Where is it Best to Stand when? Calling out the Iqaamah?

Q: Miss-10: some people say that it is best for the person calling out the Iqaamah to stand directly behind the Imaam' What is the proof for this?

Answer: It is regarded to be the best practice for the person calling out the Iqaamah to stand directly behind the Imaam because this has been the practice of the ummah. This is just like the du'aa after the Taraaweeh salaah. Which may not be substantiated by any Hadith but by the practice of the pious predecessors. Similarly, the du'aa after the Eid salaah is also not substantiated by any Hadith -but by the practice of the pious predecessors. In a like manner, the takbeer after the Eidul Adhaa salaah is also proven by the practice of the Muslims from generation to generation' In fact, some scholars state that following this practice is Waajib.

Nevertheless, a person may call out the Iqaamah from wherever he is standing but it is best not to make a habit of walking about unnecessarily to call out the Iqaamah. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
