Will Hajj be Fardh if one has Fifty Thousand Worth of Shares?

Q: Hajj-37: Nowadays people have shares in companies dealing in interest both in India as well as overseas. There is a person who has fifty thousand Rupees in shares. Is Hajj Fardh for him? the reason for asking is that shares are regarded as property. Does the Shari'ah regard them as cash?

Answer: Hajj is Fardh for such a person regardless of whether the shares are regarded as property or cash because if a person has shares to that value, he must be having sufficient wealth left over for Hajj after tending to his necessities and his family and other dependents. If there is a doubt of interest being earned from the shares, he may take a loan to pay for the Hajj and then repay the loan with the money attained from selling the shares.
