For a Person to be Imaam when Rebelling against Hadhrat Uthmaan RADI. ?

Q: Salaah-37: If our books of jurisprudence instruct that the salaah performed behind a Faasiq or someone who practises Bid'ah has to be repeated, why did Hadhrat Uthmaan RADI. allow the Sahabah RADI. to perform salaah behind those who rebelled against him and not instruct them to repeat the salaah? Who can be a worse Faasiq than a rebel? These rebels were such that they rebelled against the true Ameerul Mu'mineen, who was a son-in-law of Rasulullaah SAW. and one of the Ashara Mubashara.

Answer: The preferred opinion according to which Fataawaa are issued is that salaah performed behind a Faasiq or one who practises Bid'ah need not be repeated if his beliefs do not fall into the category of Kufr. In fact, the salaah will not even be Makrooh if one has no option but to perform salaah behind such a person. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
