Permitting Her Marriage merely to Please her Father

Question: A father approached his daughter who is sane and of age, telling her that he wished to marry her to a particular person. She refused initially, but reluctantly agreed when he insisted. In fact, even the rest of her family was opposed to the marriage. When the representative and witnesses came to request her permission, she consented only to please her father, but was really not happy. The marriage then took place and although the couple even had children, they have always been unhappy. She always says that she married only to please her father and was really forced to do so. What is the ruling?

Answer: Although she was never happy to marry the man, the marriage is nonetheless valid since she permitted the representative to enact the marriage. Since they already have children, the couple ought to make an effort to live together. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
