Can the Father-in-Law Marry the Daughter-in-law with whom he had committed adultery ?

Question: A father-in-law committed adultery with his daughter-in-law and his son also came to know of it. Will the son's marriage then be broken? if so, then can the father-in-law marry the daughter-in-law?

Answer: If the father-in-law committed adultery with his daughter-in-law, she becomes Haraam to his son. The son therefore needs to divorce his wife. Every woman whom a son marries will be Haraam for his father regardless of whether the marriage was consummated or not.

The Qur'aan clearly state: (Also forbidden for you are) The wives of your sons who were born of you the wives of your biological sons, the father-in-law therefore cannot marry the daughter-in-law in the stated case and even if he does, the marriage will be invalid.
