A Break Between the Adhaan and Iqaamah of the Maghrib Salaah

Q: Salaah-217: The Mu'adhin calls out the lqaamah for the Maghrib salaah immediately upon descending from the roof after calling out the Adhaan. Is this correct? Is there supposed to be a break between the Adhaan and lqaamah?

Answer: The only duration of time that needs to separate the Adhaan and Iqaamah of Maghrib is the time it takes to recite three short verses of the Qur'aan (like the time the Imaam sits between the two Khutbahs). The time it takes to descend from the roof is sufficient time so there is therefore no harm in calling out the lqaamah then. Nurul ldhaa (Pg.62) states that the duration of time needed to separate the Adhaan and Iqaamah of Maghrib is the time it takes to recite three short verses of the Qur'aan or to take three steps. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
