Folding the Hands During the Iqaamah

Q: Salaah-218: What do the Ulema of Deen and the Muftis have to say about people who regard it an act of virtue to stand with the hands folded while the lqaamah is being called out? Is it Sunnah or Mustahab to do this or to keep the hands folded in this manner when the Takbeer Tahreema is called out or when standing in the rows? If this is not Sunnah or Mustahab, then what is the ruling concerning labelling people who do not do it as foolish and ignorant? What is then the preferred manner of standing in this case?

Answer: It is neither Sunnah nor Mustahab to fold the hands while standing before the salaah and straightening the rows. It is therefore incorrect to regard the folding of the hands as being Sunnah and to condemn those who do not do it. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
