A Second Jamaa'ah for the Eid salaah

Q: Salaah-627: We have always been performing the Eid salaah together, but the group of Bid'atis insist that they perform their salaah behind their own Imaam. Can they perform a second Eid salaah at the Eid Gah? If they were to do this, does the Khutbah have to be repeated?

Answer: The Shari'ah does not permit a second Jamaa'ah in a Masjid after people have already performed the salaah in Jamaa'ah within the prescribed time. The same applies to the Eid salaah. If the Bid'atis insist on performing their own salaah, some influential people of the town should explain to them that they should not. However, if they persist and there is fear of serious trouble starting, it is best to leave them to do as they please. The sin will be theirs. Those on the truth should perform the salaah and then deliver the Khutbah immediately afterwards. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
