Will a Driver or a Bus Conductor perform Safar salaah?

Q: Salaah-681: I am a conductor on a state-owned bus and I travel a distance of approximately 22km from Wankaneer to Madhi. From there, I travel for 100 to 150km and have to spend the night in villages en-route. On one occasion, I returned to Madhi only after a day or two. Will I perform Qasr salaah or salaah in full?

Answer: In the stated case, when you travel from Wankaneer to work and then leave from Madhi with the intention of travelling for 100 to 150km, you will be regarded as a Musaafir according to the Shari'ah. You will therefore perform Qasr salaah. Since Wankaneer is your Watn Asli, you will be a Muqeem as soon as you enter the town and will therefore perform salaah in full here. However, if you intend staying in Madhi or anywhere else for 15 or more days, the place will be your Watn Iqaamah and you will perform salaah in full here as well until you leave the place to undertake a journey of Safar. And Allaah knows best what is most correct.
