A: Yes, the Ahadith mention the virtues of certain special fasts: 'Aishah radiyAllaahu'anha narrates, "Rasulullaah (S.A.W) used to fast Mondays and Thurdays." [at-Tirmizi] Abu Hurayrah' RADI. narrates that Rasulullaah (S.A.W) said, "Deeds are presented Mondays and Thursdays. I like that my deeds be presented and lam fasting." [Ibid] Abu Hurayrah RADI. narrates, "Rasulullaah (S.A.W) would never leave the fasts of Ayyamul Biaz whether at home or travelling.(*) Abu Qata dah RADI. narrates that Rasulullaah (S.A.W) said, "For the fast of 'Arafah (*) I hope that Allaah will forgive the sins of the passed year and the next year. For the fast of 'Ashura (*) I hope that Allaah will forgive the sins of the passed year." [Muslim] Abu Ayyub al-Ansari RADI. narrates that Rasulullaah (S.A.W) said, He who fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal is like one who fasted the whole period (year)." [Muslim]
